On successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
LO1. Describe what manual handling is and identify common manual handling activities across UK workplaces.
LO2. Explain why manual handling injuries occur and the potential consequences for individuals and organisations.
LO3. Identify manual handling hazards and risk factors in accordance with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
LO4. Apply the principles of risk assessment to manual handling tasks using the TILE approach (Task, Individual, Load, Environment).
LO5. Select and apply appropriate control measures to eliminate or reduce manual handling risks.
LO6. Demonstrate knowledge of safe manual handling techniques consistent with HSE guidance.
LO7. Understand employer and employee responsibilities under UK health and safety law.
LO8. Successfully complete a knowledge-based assessment to demonstrate competence.
